CRIMECON STATEMENT

Near the conclusion of our 2022 event, a podcaster/author breached our Anti-Harassment policy by initiating a verbal confrontation with Julie Murray, one of our speakers. Ms. Murray is the sister of Maura Murray, who has been missing since 2004.

CrimeCon ensured the podcaster left the premises and organizers provided Ms. Murray a private and safe location. Over the ensuing weeks CrimeCon spoke with both parties and supported Ms. Murray in her requests for additional information and reports from our various security teams.

CrimeCon’s policies exist to ensure the physical and emotional security for everyone who attends our events. We take any breach of them very seriously. As a result, we removed the podcaster from our 2022 event in London and extended a one-year ban on attendance at any of our other events. A second strike will result in a lifetime ban. The podcaster accepted the penalty and has expressed remorse.
