CrimeCon Security and Anti-Harassment Policy
CrimeCon supports a safe, respectful, and well-managed event environment for attendees, guests, speakers, exhibitors, vendors, staff, crew, press, security personnel, and other participants.
Safety planning may involve the venue, contracted security providers, emergency services, and, when appropriate, local law enforcement. Security measures may change by event, venue, location, attendance size, risk assessment, and operational need.
Event safety procedures are designed to reduce risk. They cannot remove every risk or guarantee that incidents will not occur.
EVENT SECURITY MEASURES
Depending on the event and venue, security measures may include:
- Badge checks and access control.
- Bag inspections.
- Walkthrough or handheld screening devices.
- Uniformed or plainclothes security personnel.
- Venue security support.
- Law enforcement presence when appropriate.
- Detection canine teams or other screening methods when needed.
- Other procedures required by the venue, event conditions, or operational needs.
All attendees and participants must wear their event badge inside official CrimeCon event areas. This includes attendees, exhibitors, vendors, speakers, talent, guests, professionals, press, staff, crew, and other credentialed participants. Individuals without a valid event badge may be denied entry or removed from event areas.
By bringing a bag or personal item into the event, attendees agree that the item may be inspected as a condition of entry or continued attendance. Refusing a lawful security screening may result in denied entry, removal from the event, or badge revocation, subject to applicable law and CrimeCon’s ticketing terms.
CrimeCon, the venue, and security personnel may restrict, prohibit, or remove any item that presents a safety concern, violates venue rules or applicable law, or interferes with event operations.
PROHIBITED ITEMS AND CONDUCT
Prohibited items may include:
- Weapons of any kind, unless expressly authorized by CrimeCon and permitted by law.
- Explosives, fireworks, or hazardous materials.
- Illegal drugs or controlled substances.
- Drones or other unauthorized aerial devices.
- Unauthorized recording, streaming, broadcasting, or surveillance equipment.
- Items that may disrupt the event or interfere with the safety or experience of others.
- Any item considered unsafe or inappropriate by CrimeCon, the venue, or security personnel.
Prohibited items and security requirements may be updated based on venue rules, security guidance, local law, or event-specific conditions.
ATTENDEE SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
Everyone attending or participating in the event is expected to:
- Wear and display their event badge inside official event areas.
- Follow instructions from CrimeCon staff, venue personnel, security, and emergency responders.
- Keep personal property with them and avoid leaving items unattended.
- Report suspicious, unsafe, or concerning activity to CrimeCon staff, venue personnel, or security.
- Remain patient and courteous during security checks, badge checks, lines, and entry procedures.
- Carry a valid photo ID for badge pickup, credential checks, age-restricted functions, alcohol service, or re-entry when required.
- Keep event badges as a souvenir or dispose of them inside the venue. Badges should not be sold, transferred, discarded outside the venue, or given to unauthorized individuals.
EMERGENCY REPORTING
For emergencies, immediate threats, medical emergencies, fires, or crimes in progress, attendees should call 911 or contact venue security immediately. Once it is safe, attendees should notify CrimeCon staff, security, or the CrimeCon Help Desk.
CrimeCon may rely on venue personnel, contracted security providers, emergency medical services, and law enforcement for certain response functions. CrimeCon does not control public areas, hotel spaces, transportation systems, third-party venues, or attendee activity outside official event areas.
ANTI-HARASSMENT POLICY

Attendees and participants are expected to use good judgment with alcohol, cannabis where lawful, prescription medication, over-the-counter medication, and any other substance.
CrimeCon, the venue, and security personnel may deny entry, refuse alcohol service, remove alcohol from an attendee, request medical assistance, or remove an attendee when impairment creates a safety concern, disrupts the event, violates venue rules, or interferes with the experience of others.
Illegal drug use, possession, or distribution is prohibited and may be referred to venue security or law enforcement.
